# Edit a dashboard chart in Analyze

> Zoom any dashboard chart tile into the full Analyze editor to change its shelves, chart type, and formatting - edits write straight back to the tile.

You can open any dashboard chart tile in the full Analyze editor without leaving your dashboard. This is an extra way into the editor, not a replacement for the Analyze section - that section keeps its own sheets and navigation.

## Open the editor

1. Open a dashboard in edit mode.
2. Hover a chart tile to reveal its toolbar and click the Analyze button.
3. Or select the tile and press Enter.

The Analyze editor opens over the still-visible dashboard, with the chart's shelves, fields, and format controls ready to edit. Every change you make writes straight back to the tile. Close the editor to return to the board.

## What carries over

Each tile keeps its own linked editing session, so re-opening it resumes where you left off - its drill state and its analysis history are preserved between visits. A tile's colors keep following the dashboard's palette unless you change one yourself in the editor.

> **Note:** The Analyze button appears on chart tiles. KPI, table, and text or shape tiles don't offer it, and it's available while you're editing the dashboard rather than presenting it.
