You can post a dashboard to a Slack channel or send it straight to teammates. The message carries a picture of the dashboard, its title linked back to Golden, and an optional note from you.

## Connect Slack

Each teammate connects their own Slack account, and you only need to do it once.

1. Press Cmd , (Ctrl , on Windows and Linux), or click your avatar in the top right and choose Settings.
2. Open Integrations in the left rail.
3. On the Slack row, click Connect and approve access in Slack. The row then shows Connected.

> **Note:** Disconnect on the same row removes the connection. After that you can't share to Slack or receive Slack alerts until you connect again.

## Send a dashboard

1. Open the dashboard you want to send. Golden sends the dashboard you are looking at.
2. Click Share in the top right and choose Send with Slack. Elsewhere in an analysis the item is disabled and reads Open a dashboard to send.
3. In Share to Slack, choose Channel or Direct Message and pick where it goes.
4. Optionally add a note under Message (optional). Preview shows the image that will be posted.
5. Click Send.

> **Tip:** You can also send a published dashboard from its card in a space: open the card's menu and choose Send with Slack. From there the message goes out without a preview image, as a link only.

## Publishing before posting to a channel

A channel post links to a dashboard published to a shared workspace, so teammates with a Golden Analytics account can open it. If yours isn't published yet, the dialog asks you to pick a Workspace and click Publish & Continue before choosing a channel. To skip publishing, click send as a Direct Message instead.

> **Note:** If you don't belong to any shared workspaces, the dialog asks you to create one first.

## Choose a channel

- Search the list or pick from Recent. Private channels show a lock.
- A private channel appears only once the Golden app has been invited to it in Slack.
- If Slack reports that the Golden app isn't in the channel, invite it in Slack, then try again.

## Send a direct message

Choose Direct Message and pick people under Recipients, up to 8 at a time. A direct message doesn't require the dashboard to be published, but recipients still need a Golden Analytics account to open the link.

## What the message contains

- The dashboard title, linked to the dashboard in Golden.
- Your note, if you added one.
- An image of the dashboard as it looked when you sent it.
- A View Dashboard → link.
- A footer reading Shared by with your name, followed by Golden Analytics. Golden uses your Slack name when it can find one.

The link opens the dashboard in Golden, so recipients sign in to see it with their own access.

## Missing Slack permissions

If the dialog says Slack permissions are missing for posting messages or for direct messages, click Reconnect Slack to approve the access Golden needs, then send again.
