AI Creates Calculated Fields in Chat

You can now ask the AI to build calculated fields in Analyze and on dashboards, like 'add a variance column' or an age-group bucket, and it adds, edits, and deletes real fields instead of claiming success without doing anything. The same formula validation the Fields dialog runs applies, so an unsupported formula is refused up front.

Explain This Change with Driver Breakdown

Charts can now answer why a number moved. Ask the AI Analyst 'why did sales change?' and an Explain This Change panel opens with a period-over-period driver breakdown, a key-driver waterfall, and inline links to the dimensions behind the shift. It works on the Analyze canvas and in Dashboard chat.

Overlay Years on Time-Series Charts

A time-series chart can now overlay each year as its own series on a shared within-year axis, so this year lines up against prior years at a glance. Overlay Years and Compare Periods buttons appear on the chart's narrative panel in both Analyze and dashboards.

Insertable Links on Dashboards

A Link element is now in the dashboard toolbar's Add Component menu, alongside text, shapes, images, and icons. A link opens a URL in a new tab or jumps to another sheet in the dashboard, and fires only in viewer, present, and read-only modes. Labels are underlined by default and support custom colors and typography.

Zoom the Dashboard Canvas from the Keyboard

Cmd/Ctrl plus and minus now zoom the dashboard canvas instead of the browser page, anchored on your cursor when it's over the canvas. Keyboard, wheel, pinch, and the toolbar slider now share one 25 to 200 percent range, and the zoom dropdown's Fit Width and Fit to Page numbers match what actually gets applied.

Legible Dashboard Text at Any Zoom

Dashboards render on a fixed artboard that scales down to fit the screen, which used to shrink axis labels, titles, and chart text to as small as 5 to 10 pixels in fit-width editing and present mode. Text now lifts just enough to stay legible when the canvas is zoomed out, while staying pixel-identical at 100 percent zoom and in PNG exports.

Drag Dashboard Tiles From Anywhere

Callout, hero, quote, annotation, and KPI tiles now drag from anywhere on their body instead of a thin grab strip above the card. Charts and tables drag from their title and a thin edge frame, while the plot interior stays live for cross-filtering, tooltips, map panning, and cell selection.

Streaming Schema Browse for Databricks

Browsing a per-user Databricks connection now streams catalogs as they load, showing a progressive tree with a loading skeleton on refresh, matching the Snowflake browse experience. Catalog comments and tags appear in the streamed tree.

Formatted-Number CSV Columns Import as Measures

CSV columns with currency, percent, thousands separators, or accounting-style negatives ($159,003.00, 68.8%, (500)) now import as numeric measures instead of text. Previously they classified as string dimensions, so summing them returned blank charts.

AI Number Formats Apply Everywhere and Undo

When the AI changes a field's number format, it now applies to every chart using that field, not just the dataset field. On dashboards, a chat-driven format change is captured in undo/redo and analysis history, so Cmd+Z reverts it.

Fix a Mistyped OAuth Client ID

A per-user Snowflake or Databricks OAuth client ID can now be edited after it's recorded. A 'Wrong ID? Change it' option in the connection checklist replaces the previous dead end, where a mistyped ID could only be discovered at the authorize step and never corrected.

Full Sheet Names on Hover

A truncated sheet name in the Analyze and Communicate sections of the sidebar now shows its full name in a tooltip on hover. The tooltip appears only when the name is actually cut off.

Charts No Longer Re-Animate on Hover

Charts visibly re-grew from zero the first time you hovered them in Analyze and on dashboards, because many line, area, combo, and scatter series re-ran their entrance tween on any re-render. Series now animate once and stay put, and a bar chart no longer replays its animation when an adjacent panel reflows.

Funnel Charts Honor Measure Formatting

Funnel value labels ignored the measure's number format, so a currency measure showed '2.5M' instead of '$2.5M' and a percentage dropped its sign. The Measure Formatting pane's number type, currency, decimal places, and Display Units now all apply, and Display Units scale the value correctly instead of just appending 'M'.

Format Pane No Longer Crashes on Legacy Charts

Editing a bar chart's Y axis or opening the shelf builder on an older or AI-generated chart could throw a grey screen when the saved format had no color palette or no format object at all. Missing formats are now backfilled with defaults, so the format pane and builder render.

Scatter Plots Re-Query on Aggregation Change

Changing a scatter field's aggregation from sum to average did nothing for up to five minutes because the cached query key ignored aggregation. The scatter now re-queries immediately when a field's aggregation or date granularity changes.

Area Chart Tooltips and Click-to-Pin

Area charts never showed a hover tooltip and couldn't pin a sticky tooltip on click, unlike bar and line charts. Both now work, including on period-overlay area charts.

AI Sort Commands Land on Dashboards

Asking the AI storyteller on a dashboard to sort a chart descending did nothing while the assistant claimed success, because a chart with a nameless field crashed the sort silently. Field lookups are now null-safe, so sort, shelf-remove, and per-field aggregation commands apply.

Invalid AI Formulas Rejected Up Front

The AI could report success creating a calculated field like [Sales] / SUM([Sales]) that has no valid single-expression form, then crash the chart with 'Unsupported formula pattern.' Chat now runs the same mixed-aggregate validation as the Fields dialog across Analyze, dashboards, and Prep, rejecting the formula before it lands.

Excel Files With Merged Banner Rows

Importing an Excel sheet with a banner title merged across the top row (e.g. 'Results' spanning A1:Z1) mis-detected that row as the header, producing columns like Results and Results_2 and pushing the real header into the data. Merged cells now collapse to their single logical value, so header detection picks the right row.

Calculated Fields Comparing Numbers on Text Columns

A calculated field like an age-group bucket, IF([age] >= 55, '55+', ...), validated as correct but came back blank for every row when the column was imported as text, common for survey data. Numeric comparisons now cast the column, so the field populates in the data table, live preview, and Explain calc.

Snowflake Profiling Timeout Storm

Profiling a dataset that joined a small table to a very large one could blow past the query time limit and leave the query running on the warehouse, throwing a wave of 'Query timed out' errors. Each table is now sized on its own, so large tables use a sampled path, and profiling stops its queries when you leave the data view.

AI Dashboards With Quotes in Titles

AI dashboard generation returned a title but zero charts when the model put an unescaped quote or apostrophe in a title or description (like the word 'Closed' in quotes). The JSON is now repaired before parsing, so the full set of components comes through.

Font Picker No Longer Overflows the Format Pane

The font-family dropdown in the format pane spilled past its right edge when the selected font had a long name. The trigger now shrinks and truncates within the pane.

Dark-Mode Chat Button Icon

The 'Chat with your data' button icon was hard to see in dark mode. It now renders with the correct contrast.
