App settings

Your personal preferences in the settings dialog: color mode and chart palettes under Preferences, and the Spaces you follow under Notifications.

3 min readUpdated September 25, 2026

Personal preferences live in the settings dialog, which opens over whatever you were doing. Press Cmd , (Ctrl , on Windows and Linux), or choose Settings from the avatar menu in the top right. Your own sections are listed first in the left rail, under your name.

Note: The old addresses still work: /settings/app opens the dialog on Preferences. It opens over Home, and closing it leaves you on Home.

Appearance

In Preferences, the Appearance control picks a color mode. It is saved on this device, so another computer keeps its own choice.

  • Light - always use light mode.
  • Dark - always use dark mode.
  • System - follow your system preference.

Chart colors

Below Appearance, the Chart colors block holds your custom chart palettes. Palettes apply to you only, and teammates set up their own.

  1. Click Create palette (or New palette, once you have one) to open the palette editor.
  2. Name the palette and set its colors, then save.
  3. Use Your default palette to choose which palette new charts start from. Select System default to go back to Golden's built-in colors.
  4. Use the pencil icon on a palette row to edit it, or the trash icon to delete it.

Notifications

The Notifications section lists your Space updates: the Spaces you've asked to hear about. When something new is published to one of them, you get an in-app notification and an email.

  1. To follow a Space, open it and click "Notify me when there's content". The button appears when you are a Viewer of a Space that has nothing in it yet, and changes to "We'll let you know" once you're following it.
  2. To stop following, open Settings, choose Notifications, and click Turn off next to the Space.

If you aren't following any Spaces, the section says so and points you to the button in a Space.

Tip: Not sure which section holds what you want? Type into the Search settings box at the top of the left rail. It matches section names plus the words people actually search for, so "colors" finds Preferences and "notify" finds Notifications.
