Navigating the app
Find your way around the Home sidebar, the Create menu, Recents and Explore, Favorites, the Inbox, renaming items in place, and the top bar and sidebar inside an analysis.
Golden Analytics has two chrome layouts. On Home, a sidebar runs down the left edge of your landing page. Inside an analysis, a top bar runs across the top with a stage sidebar down the left. The layout switches automatically depending on where you are.

The Home sidebar

On Home, a sidebar runs down the left edge. At the top, the Golden flower returns you to Home, the ⊕ Create button starts something new, and a control collapses the rail to a thin icon strip. Below sit the nav rows:
- Home - your landing page.
- Favorites - click the arrow to expand the list of things you starred, or the label to open the Favorites page.
- Your space - your private space. No one else can see what's in it.
- Spaces - expands to the collaboration and public spaces you belong to. Click the label to see every space.
- Explore - everything you can see across the account.
- Recents - your recently opened analyses. Hover a row to star it, or hover the heading for Clear recents.
The footer holds your account menu, Help (the question-mark opens the docs drawer), and your Inbox.

You can expand/collapse the sidebar with a single click. Expanding is a click of the top left flower. Hovering over the icons will give you details of the content in each section.
The Create menu
The Create button offers Analysis and Shared connection, plus Collaboration space and Public space if your role can create spaces. For an analysis or a shared connection, Golden asks Where should it live? and preselects the space you're in, or Your space.
Browse your spaces
The Spaces section lists your shared spaces. Hover its heading for Search spaces, Create a space, and Sort spaces. Click a space to open it.
Favorites
Favorites is an expandable section near the top of the Home sidebar, alongside your spaces and Recents. Use the star at the left of the section header to expand it and list everything you have starred inline; click the Favorites label itself to open the full Favorites page. The section remembers whether you left it open or closed. When the rail is collapsed to icons, the Favorites icon shows the same list on hover.
You can favorite the things you work with — analyses, published dashboards, data stories, shared datasets, connections, and spaces. Add one with the star button on an item (its tooltip reads "Add to favorites"), and remove it from that star again or from the star on its row in the sidebar. Until you star something, the section reads "No favorites yet".
The Home landing
The landing greets you by name and offers a row of quick actions: Start an analysis, Create a shared connection, Make a space, and Try it out with sample data. Beneath that sits Explore — a single browser of everything you've made. It opens on the Recents tab, a recency-sorted feed of what you last worked on, and the tab row narrows it to Analyses, Dashboards, Sheets, Datasets, or Connections. A search box helps you find an item, and you can switch between card and list views, with an extra expanded view on the Analyses tab.
The Explore page
The Explore page, from the sidebar, has the same layout as the Home landing with an All tab in place of Recents, and covers everything you can see rather than just what you opened.
- Search names, owners, spaces, data... - finds items by any of those.
- Filters - a time range (All time, Past week, Past month, Past year), a sort order, and a space filter (Any spaces, Private space, or one space).
- Card view and List view - switch between cards and a sortable list.
- On the Analyses pill, a third option, Expanded view, opens each analysis into its own panel with its dataset, sheets, and dashboards as cards - and each analysis card expands and collapses in place.
- Select - turn on selection to pick several items at once: click one to select it, Shift-click to take a range, or use Select all to select everything shown. A toolbar then acts on them together.
Right-click any card or list row — including an expanded analysis card — to open its ⋯ actions menu right where you clicked, instead of reaching for the ⋯ button.
You can rename most things in place. Inside an analysis, click the analysis name in the top bar to rename it. Outside an analysis, clicking a card or list row opens it, so the rename lives on a small pencil that appears beside the name when you hover the card, row, or expanded analysis panel — click it to edit the name right where it sits. The same rename is on the item's ⋯ menu and its right-click menu as Rename (Edit for a space), and the name turns into an editable field rather than opening a dialog. The pencil only shows up for items you are allowed to rename.
Explore also has a Create menu with Connect to data, Start an analysis, and Make a space.
The Inbox
The Inbox button in the sidebar footer collects mentions, replies, space invites, requests for access to your spaces, and news of content published to spaces you follow. When someone asks for access, you can Approve or Deny it right there. Mark all read clears the unread markers, and the trash icon clears every notification.
The top bar inside an analysis
- Home menu (the menu icon, far left) - opens a panel with Home, Favorites, Your space, Spaces, and Explore, plus your recent analyses, so you can leave the analysis without losing your place.
- The analysis name - click it to rename. The arrow beside it opens the analysis menu: Favorite, Details, Rename, Duplicate, Move to space, and Delete.
- The pane button - shows or hides the AI pane for the view you're in.
- Undo, Redo, and History - the History button also shows the name of the sheet or dashboard you're on. The saved status sits next to it.
- On the right: Search (opens the command palette, Cmd K), Present, Share, and Invite.
The analysis sidebar
Inside an analysis, the left sidebar starts with a Back link to wherever you came from, then groups everything into five stages:
- Connect - your data model and relationships.
- Discover - Key Questions, Insights, and Suggested Visualizations.
- Prepare - one row per table, for cleaning and transforming.
- Analyze - your sheets, with Search sheets and a button to add a sheet.
- Communicate - your dashboards, with a button to add a dashboard.
Drag the sidebar's right edge to resize it, or click Close sidebar to collapse it to a strip of icons whose lists open when you hover them. Your account menu, Help, and Inbox sit at the bottom.
