Roles and permissions
Golden has account roles, which decide who administers the account, and Space roles, which decide what each person can do inside a Space.
Golden has two layers of roles. Your account role decides whether you administer the account itself: its members, groups, and billing. Your Space role decides what you can do inside each Space, and you can hold a different role in every Space.
Account roles
| Role | What it can do |
|---|---|
| Contributor | The role new members join with. Can create Spaces, build analyses and dashboards, and work in any Space they belong to. |
| Account Admin | Everything a Contributor can do, plus the account sections of Settings: General, Members, Groups, Card images, and Billing. Account Admins invite people to Golden, change account roles, and manage seats. |
To change someone's account role, an Account Admin opens Settings from the avatar menu (or presses Cmd , on Mac, Ctrl , on Windows and Linux), chooses Members, and picks Account Admin or Contributor on that person's row.
Space roles
| Role | What it can do |
|---|---|
| Admin | Full control of the Space. Can add and remove members and groups, change their roles, and edit or delete the Space. |
| Editor | Can create, edit, and delete analyses, datasets, and dashboards in the Space, and save warehouse connections to it. |
| Viewer | Can open what has been shared with the Space, but can't add or edit content. |
Viewers only see content that has been shared with the Space. When you invite people to view something that isn't shared yet, Viewers are listed but can't be picked, with the note "Viewer roles in Spaces do not have access unless the artifact is shared."
How Space types affect roles
- Public Spaces give everyone in the account Viewer access automatically. Adding someone there is how an Admin gives them the Admin or Editor role.
- Collaboration Spaces are invite-only. Only the members an Admin adds can see them, each with the role they were given.
- Your private space is yours alone. You can't invite anyone into it.
