Change your password

Update your password from the Password section of the settings dialog, or from the Change Password screen after signing in with a temporary password.

You can update your password from two places: the Password section of the settings dialog, and the Change Password screen you land on after signing in with a temporary password.

From the settings dialog

  1. Press Cmd , (Ctrl , on Windows and Linux), or click your avatar and choose Settings.
  2. Click Password in the left rail.
  3. Enter your Current password.
  4. Enter a New password (at least 8 characters) and confirm it.
  5. Click Update password.
Note: Your current password is verified before the new one is saved. If it does not match, you will see "Current password is incorrect". A new password shorter than 8 characters, or two fields that don't match, is rejected before anything is saved.

Sign-in methods

The bottom of the Password section lists what this account can actually sign in with, so you can check your options without changing anything.

If you signed in with Google

When Google is your only sign-in method, the Current password field is hidden and the button reads Set password. Setting one lets you also sign in with email and password.

If you were given a temporary password

After signing in with a temporary password you are sent to /change-password. Enter a new password, confirm it, and click Set New Password. You are redirected to Home once it succeeds.

Heads up: Passwords must be at least 8 characters, and the two fields must match before the form will submit.
